Xbox 360 Remains the Top-selling Console of 2012

Xbox 360 sold more units in May in the U.S. than any other console or handheld gaming device, maintaining its position as the best-selling console in the U.S. for the past 17 months.

May highlights from The NPD Group include:

· Xbox 360 sold 160,000 units, representing a 45 percent share of current-generation console sales in the U.S. This marks the 15th consecutive month that Xbox 360 has held more than a 40 percent share of current-generation console sales in the U.S.

· Total retail spend on the Xbox 360 platform (hardware, software and accessories) reached $209 million, the most for any console in the U.S. and more than the spend on the other two current-generation consoles combined.

· Xbox 360 held six of the top 10 U.S. console game titles including: “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier,” “Max Payne 3,” Prototype 2,” “Sniper Elite V2,” “NBA 2K12” and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.” Xbox 360 also garnered more software sales than the other two current-generation consoles combined.

Last week at E3, Xbox detailed its mission to make the entertainment people love even more amazing. In addition to announcing a new lineup of games, Xbox introduced the next wave of entertainment partners coming to the platform and an entirely new experience with Xbox SmartGlass, enabling consumers to experience their favorite entertainment across the devices they love.
