What we will cover
The class is built around three questions every small business owner in Lake County should be able to answer with confidence: is your building secure, is your network secure, and could your business spot a scam before it costs you money.
Physical security
Chief George Simpson of the Polson Police Department will walk through practical steps for protecting your building, your people, and your assets — crime prevention guidance grounded in what local police actually see on these calls.
Cybersecurity
Brady Phenicie will cover practical steps for protecting your network, email, accounts, data, and employees — no jargon, just what small businesses in Polson and Lake County can do this week to close the gaps that lead to breaches, ransomware, and downtime.
Fraud and financial security
Connie Tuman and Sheena Tafoya from Glacier Bank will cover business and financial security, including access security and fraud prevention for protecting your business accounts — the scams and social-engineering tactics that specifically target small businesses.
Mission West Community Development Partners will also be on hand with resources, guidance, and support for current and future small business owners in the area.
Why we are showing up
Physical security, cybersecurity, and financial fraud are usually treated as three separate problems handled by three separate people, if they are handled at all. For most small businesses they are really one problem: does anything or anyone unauthorized have a path into your building, your network, or your bank account. This class puts the people who see these threats every day, law enforcement, banking, and IT, in the same room for one evening so you can walk out with a real answer.
